Ok, actual about me stuff. I'm this tall, and this wide. I'm in my mid 30's, going on 25. There must have been a mistake in the book keeping department about the age thing.

I am

  • A parent. My daughter is four years old and is the center of my life. She's amazing.
  • A husband. I love my wife. We're a package deal, a team. She hit on me in the library (she may tell it a little differently) in high school in 1985 and we've been together and apart over the years since then, but we're best together.
  • A games geek. We are way over 100 games on the shelf. I'd play games every night of the week if I could. I play games for fun, to interact with people. Ocassionally to win, and when I feel that way, I let people know, because it is a contrast. I would hate for someone to be expecting me to be playing in friendly social mode, and find themselves playing against me in competetive take no prisoners mode. Partly because that would mean they were playing friendly, and winning competetively against someone playign socially isn't any fun. Some games are always competetive. Poker and chess being the two that come to mind. I can play a teaching game of either, but those games are made for competetion. Four out of five of the games I own are made for social interaction, and that's the way I like it.
  • Back in the computer field. When we arrived in Northern Va, I went job hunting and found no jobs for people with my skills without a security clearance. So I took a job as an armed security guard and got me a clearance. Now I'm back working at a computer instead of with a gun. It was an interesting phase of my life though.
  • A very sexual person. I love to talk about love and sex, and if the chemistry is right, more than talk about it. I'm a firm believer that love is not sex, and that love is not a finite resource. Most of this is behind a filter and a cut tag, in order not to offend the fine people at your office who snoop your networks.
  • Politicly indeterminate. I agree with conservatives on some subjects and liberals on others. Both categories are perfectly willing to hate me for at least one of my views, but that's ok with me. If you are conservative you can hate me for the gay marriage issue, or for my opposition to government invovlement in any religion. If you are liberal you can hate me for my guns and my position on taxes.
  • Not into stereotypes. Just because you see a list of things about me that identify me as a 30-something yuppie parent, don't think you begin to know what that means. In exchange, I won't see you as the most obvious label you carry around either.






We moved to Northern VA a few years back, and I'm stil trying to make lj and personal connections with people up here. If I added you recently and you don't know why, odds are your LJ says you live here and you look interesting to me.

Comment on my posts. I do this as a social thing. You are not intruding. Honest. I'm interested in making new connections and meeting new people. I see LJ as an interesting tool for that. So go ahead and friend me, comment on my posts. You can unfriend me later, I don't mind. I know that just because LJ calls it a friends list doesn't make us bestest buds when we add one another to the lists. I freind and unfriend all the time.
